Communications Corner - August 2023
Posted on Jul 28, 2023 by Brad Meyer
It’s August and I wanted to reflect back to July for a bit. We had a great 4th of July event for South Valley Lodge. The City of Morgan Hill puts on a great 4th of July parade, and we are fortunate to have the parade route pass right in front of our hall. As always, we drove our wonderful cable car in the parade for all to see the South Valley Masons as part of our community.
We also celebrated our 2023 Hoover Scholarship winners with a ride on the cable car in the parade. The waves and smiles were endless. After the cable car ride, we presented the scholarship checks to our deserving high school graduates who worked so hard to get their diploma. The scholarship checks support their future educational goals as they look to their future. These types of actions make are some of the many reasons why I’m proud to be a Mason.
After the parade we put on a big tri-tip and chicken BBQ at the hall. A BIG thank you to the organizing committee consisting of our newest members: Eric Kallio, Brandon Winter, Armand Aranda, and Walter Shores. Their efforts, along with the efforts of our Rainbow girls and advisors, the Cub and Boy Scouts and their parents, and the rest of the lodge brothers who attended made the event a real success.
A special thank you goes to the wife of Armand Aranda, Miriam Vega, who along with her chef assistant, cooked all the food for the event which received rave reviews from all who enjoyed the BBQ. We could not have done this event without the tireless effort from Miriam and Chef Sandra. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Looking forward to August, we continue to have success in reviving our hall rental business with several big events on the calendar.
We are also hosting our next Red Cross Blood Drive event on Tuesday, August 15. Look to the website for registration information to come out and donate blood for our community.
Check out the Calendar at a Glance on the website at http://www.SouthValleyLodge187.com for more information and to keep abreast of the happenings with your lodge.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments you may have.
